Title: Christmas 2022!
Post by: TheBeesSneeze on 2022-11-28 15:37:37
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I'm doing this it seems! We're having a new topic as part of this PSF tradition to have a new Christmas topic each year.  It's been a tumultuous handful of years around the world, but from it we can still see a lot of good!  Not to mention all the good personalities and things that come from this community!  Hopefully you are now getting your Christmas shopping and decorations up, and if you're lucky, you are done!  Let's celebrate the holiday season, PSF!  Here's to a wonderful season! Merry Christmas to you all, and thanks for being such an amazing community!  I hope you all are blessed!

Cheers and Merry Christmas!

I just noticed there is a very very fine yellow outline around the words "MERRY CHRISTMAS" in the title there.  That is sooooooo obscurely tiny, but I am glad I noticed it, lol!  I can't believe we're already back into the Christmas season.  In just a few days it will be December.

I like how (I assume Darrin put the tree up) it is right in the middle of the smileys ruining their perfect height all the way across the smiley bar.  At least Smiles put the new emoji's on the far right of the bar to not ruin the balance.  ;D lol

Tree is up. Some gifts are under the tree, some are on the way and others still need to be purchased. Let the holly jolly come forth.

I'm still waiting for a few in the mail, but I think I got everything already in-person.

Decorations inside and out are up.  I'm not overly crazy, but I have a Christmas tree up of course, some stuff over the fireplace.  Lights in the windows facing the street and Christmas lights around the roofline of the house.

Ever since i got better from being sick, i've been having a HUGE christmas fever(not literal! No more fever for me) I've been decorating, listening to christmas radio, making christmas tarts and eaten bunch of christmas goodies. Normally i dislike christmas quite a lot, i dont even like snow that much, but now everything feels so strange and i just want MORE christmas spirit XD Help? XD

Honestly, i prefer white christmas, but after the holidays the snow can go melt away please XD

We are entering that time of the year where forum activity will go one of two ways.  Either people will stay home and the forums will be active like we say during the pandemic years... or people will be out, gone, and away with family leaving the interwebs to be quiet.

I'm thinking we will see more of the latter this time around.  What do you all think?

I think you are right, MasterX.  People if they haven't already, will start wandering from their homes to view family for Christmas.  It started happening to a good degree last year, and maybe happen more this year. :)

Hmmm, let's see:

Love Actually  <3
Little Lord Fauntleroy  xmas^^

Here on German TV, there's one movie that's absolutely a "must-see" every Christmas! The English title is "Three Wishes for Cinderella". It's a Czechoslovak/East German production made in 1973, based on a Bohemian version of the Cinderella fairy tale. It's lovely and magical, and what I especially like about it (as a little girl, and now!) is the fact that Cinderella is a strong and courageous girl, and can handle the bow and arrow more skilfully than the prince.  :D
Here's the trailer with English subtitles:

My classic pic is, "It's a Wonderful Life."  A classic American film from 1946 made in the post-war.  People were recovering after a horrible WWII and this film uplifted spirits beyond imagine.  Certainly a Christmas and film classic.

Okay, let's talk Christmas movies!  Go!

Well, I've mentioned elsewhere that Christmas movies tend to fall into several categories:  "The Gift of the Magi" plot, the "Christmas Carol" plot, and the "Santa Clause is retiring/incapacitated/missing/dead and they are looking for a successor/stand-in/the lost Clause" plot. There seems to be a new one vying for attention: the "Groundhog Christmas" plot. Someone is caught in a time loop around the holidays, and the only way out of it is to do everything right. I've seen it twice this year already: one with Kelsey Grammer (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt22527810/), and one with

Then there's the "body-swap" plot, an old eighties favorite, such as this one about two women from very different walks of life switch lives (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9154566/), not to be confused with the other one about two women from very different walks of life switching lives (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7038606/) or the one with the same title about an inveterate gambler who switches place with Santa (http://the one with the same title about an inveterate gambler who switches place with Santa). By the way, Candace Cameron-Bure has a lot of Christmas films on her resume--not surprising, I guess, when one's older brother is squeaky-clean God-wad Kirk Cameron. Though he should probably advise his little sis not to publicly post pictures showing her husband pinching her tit.  (https://psfforum.com/index.php?topic=243.msg397488#msg397488)   :-]

I saw Violent Night earlier this month. IT was about as crazy as I expected. The plot is Santa Claus is delivering presents but one rich family gets their home taken over by armed thieves while he's there. So now Santa has to take out all these gunmen and save the family so he can get back to his job.

The second new one I saw this year was A Christmas Story Christmas. It's a thirty years later sequel with the same actor who played the kid in the first Christmas Story. His father passed away and now its on Ralphie to make a Christmas just like the ones his old man did.

Third new one this year is Spirited. This movie I'm kind of obsessed with right now, the soundtrack has done that to me. Will Ferrel and Ryan Reynolds in a Christmas Carol parody musical is something I very much needed but didn't know until after I had received it. If any of you have Apple TV+ I strongly suggest you give this movie a watch.

Also in cheesy movies, usu. when someone graduates high school/college. Unless you're, like, fabulously rich, you maybe get a potluck dinner at church dinner, and cheesy gifts like a fancy pen with wood inlay and a flashlight on top.

But, hey, it's Christmas, and at this time of year even this bony old Grinch has to crack a smile.

Snow's melting fast here. Temps'll be up to high forties, low fifties by evening.  Hope there's still half-price Christmas candy for sale on the store shelves... but as I've noted earlier, I'm not above taking advantage of those deep dumpster discounts (https://psfforum.com/index.php?topic=1094.msg583400#msg583400).

I'm willing to keep Christmas going at least 'til New Years', or even the first week of January.  It'll take that long to finish watching all the Christmas movies saved in my Hulu cache and welcome back all my fav radio hosts still out on December break, anyhow.

Yep, it's not often you hear a nice festive holiday song with a gay slur in it.    ;D
