Milo Murphy's Law Discussion
New show that might be popular, might not be. Might be popular with us, might not be. The first episode of this new Disney show just premiered.
It is written and done by the same team who did, "Phineas and Ferb" so there is talented writers who know how to be funny. Lets see how this show goes. The main star is voiced by, Weird Al.
-
So I watched the first 2 episodes (http://kisscartoon.me/Cartoon/Milo-Murphy-s-Law/Episode-1?id=71658). I liked what I saw, but I want to see it develop more. So far, I don't know how they can make this show last based on this simple concept.
Weird Al's voice, all I picture is him when Milo talks.
The animation is great! It's on par with the Disney animation revival in cartoons during the late 80s and 90s, except this is better, smoother, tons of great action and scenes, especially in episode one. Great scenery in their mountain/forest city they live in.
The girl seems a bit too blah about everything, and in typical PnF style, the writing is just said, not really acted... so you can either like or dislike that.
-
I watched it yesterday and I agree, that animation is just a continued improvement on Phineas and Ferb and it very much has that feel. I will give it some more time to establish itself, but it was a good start.
-
I'll go give it a watch.
-
So I did watch it and I will give it between a 6 or a 7. It was good, but nothing spectacular. I also didn't feel Weird Al's voice really fit the character. I didn't like the girl too much yet as a character, but I did enjoy Milo's other friend.
-
So I have now seen all six episodes released of this show. It has potential, but right now I would give it a 6/10. I don't know how they can keep using this same formula for much longer then a season or two.
Fun thing, it also takes place in Danville, the same place as Phineas and Ferb.
-
How interesting.
-
It is worth a try to those who haven't tried it. It took a few episodes for me to get used to it and their characters, but it is okay so far. I feel the characters are all a bit hallow at this point, and not fleshed out. I know that will take time though.
-
I feel a lot of shows go through that. Like Star vs The Forces of Evil. It takes a while for a show sometimes to hit its stride.
-
I am going to check out that show next. Have you seen it?
-
I will have to give this show a go while it is still close to catch up too.
-
I haven't. I don't think I'd like it. Not a fan of the style. And really haven't heart "outstanding" from it. Just that it's good.
-
I would have thought that "Star & the forces of evil" would have been like some super popular cartoon on Deviant Art or rivaling Steven Universe, but it doesn't seem like that happened.
-
Yea. I guess cuz it isn't "amazing!"
-
A lot of things aren't amazing... and yet they have either really loud few fans, or massive fandoms for no real reason......Sonic.....
-
Blugh.
-
What has me interested is that Weird Al plays Milo. I also did like the humor and writing in Phineas and Ferb. I think Povenmire and Marsh make a stellar writing duo.
-
I'll catch up on it too. On episode 3.
-
I haven't watched this show to any level yet. I just can't get interested in the premise. I see this show running two seasons, tops.
-
I saw my first episode, and it was pretty okay. It is well animated, but . . . it just hasn't grabbed me yet.
-
I really don't think this show is going to take off as well as PnF. Do we have ratings for it yet?
-
It bombed in ratings, well below what they expected. Less then a quarter million viewers, but now it has steadily climbed to almost a million viewers. It is far below most Cartoon Network shows ratings, and they are spending a ton more to produce this.
-
Ratings, even if they hit a million, that is not the low numbers Disney was expecting. They want far bigger numbers then that. The show isn't resonating with people, it isn't relatable, and just isn't the same magic PnF had.
-
The ratings are getting better. They almost hit a million on the last several episodes, and this is for Disney XD. I think those are decent ratings for them. Not record blowing, but certainly solid.
-
Disney renews Milo Murphy's Law (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/disney-xd-renews-al-yankovics-milo-murphys-law-eden-shers-star-forces-evil-981534) for a second season.
-
Has it gotten good ratings to warrant a second season?
-
Horrible tv ratings... but that might be because it is on Disney XD. It is getting lower then MLP's worst periods last season.
-
Well MLP is MLP
-
Not sure how Disney XD does in ratings overall with their shows... I know it isn't good.
-
The shows viewership has been on a steady decline but Disney still loves this show. Viewership is less then what is needed to be counted on almost a weekly bases now, so less then a quarter of a million.
There will be a Phineas and Ferb / Milo Murphy crossover in 2018 (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/milo-murphys-law-phineas-ferb-crossover-is-coming-1022459).
It is uncertain how long Disney will support a show that isn't bringing in ratings now. They put a good chunk of money on this series. Not nearly the draw that P&F had.
