Title: Another computer question?
Post by: Umbreon on 2017-03-11 06:01:18
Hi I don't mean to post so much computer rubbish, but I just need a little help I went and bought a new blue led fan but it don't seem to work on automatic control however when I put it on manual control it works at maximum but I'm wondering can it destroy the fan as the max rpm is 5000rpm but its going 5300rpm would this damage it, I know it will lower the life which is why i kept my old one back just in case many thanks.

Yeah, I would return that one if I could. If not, go back to the old one. Because it should have run on both automatic and manual settings and shouldn't be running faster than than the maximum rpm  Yes, it can not only ruin the fan but could affect either the power supply or the motherboard and that's not good, expensive to replace.

This is what it's doing on automatic control.

Yeah, I would return it for a new one if you can, because it is defective.  If you can't put your old one back in. Because I'm worried that if you leave the new one in it will either burn out your power supply or your motherboard.

It sounds defective and that it would waste more energy then it is good for on your power supply.  Return it and pick up a new one.
