Personally I don't care what people draw on Tumblr.  They can do what they want, but Tumblr has decided they want to clean up their act.  So there are plenty of other sites people can draw what they wish at.  That's just how it's going to be now.

As for people freaking out about non-related content being flagged, people have time to respond back to Tumblr and have their content unflagged.  What you are not seeing is the many people getting their content unflagged.  So Tumblr is actively trying to fix it, which is good.  But they have definitely screwed up many things too.

The internet forgets all too fast.  Tumblr did the same thing back in 2013.  People freaked out, claimed it was the end of the world.  Things were improperly flagged, but guess what... they fixed it. Many of the improperly flagged things were kept and everything was fine.  It also ended with Tumblr giving up on trying to police pornography on their site.  So we'll see what happens.

It just goes to show, there really is no free or safe space anywhere.

What Tumblr is doing is a form of censorship. It is a form of censorship... and I don't like censorship.

Good Article

Tumblr didn't start out it's platform for good wholesome and family friendly fun.  If they did and they want to clean up, thats one thing.  But since they didn't and now they want to be all saintly.... well thats another.  Are they trying to tell me that by throwing a bar of soap in their pool of sludge is going to improve things?  I don't really know what Tumblr is trying to do here.  They are known for their unique content and they have cornered the market for it.  Why risk losing a large part of their community?

I'm totally good with them getting rid of illegal activity on the site.  But any mistake they make at flagging, has to be fixed.  They need to give people enough time to appeal and to have enough time for a real Tumblr employee to check out the content in question.  I hope they are doing this, but I guess we won't know for awhile.

And this goes to my earlier point I made on the page before.

Article

"But Tumblr’s porn ban isn’t about porn or Tumblr at all, really. It’s about the companies and institutions who wield influence over what does and doesn’t appear online."

I don't hear any of y'all talking about other sites y'all might use every now and then that have a LOT of porn on it, y'all seem content with it.

Derpibooru, which I know the lot of y'all've used quite a bit at times, some people probably use 4chan, which is honestly worse, and a bunch of other crap.

Why are you aiming your attacks at "us?"  It seems like you are placing yourself against all of PSF?  I don't get that.
I ain't attacking anybody. Think what you want, but I'm not that type of person. I'm stating what i'm observing, and I don't think it makes a lick of sense.

https://github.com/bbolli/tumblr-utils.git

A useful tool for making a backup of Tumblr blogs.  Works on NSFW / "sensitive content" blogs, but not dashboard-only blogs.

(If you can't get the tool to work for you, and have a short list of blogs you'd really like to archive, please post here or DM me in the next 36 hours and I'll see what I can do.)

Tumblr also has a back up system on their site.  You go into your profile and click "run backup."

Thanks, Yasl.  Good to see you around again. :)
