Feh, blame Covid for all this. People were paranoid of spreading germs with even the tiniest exhalation, so some company made a commercial with a CGI spit-take, complete with a disclaimer at the bottom that it was all safe and done by professionals standing six feet apart and in carefully-controlled hermetic conditions.
This isn't the one I'm thinking of, but it did make me laugh. Even a picture mounted in a frame spits! Then someone said,
