George Bush The Younger drew a lot of criticism for moving Daylights Savings Time up several weeks because of a small recession that occurred late in his administration and a need to save dwindling fuel reserves--the dirty little secret being that it was the left who were dragging their feet on oil-drilling, citing the sanctity of the protected fields in ANWAR. Gas prices were up to a whopping $1.50/gal, and there were shortages at the pump. People were freaking out--reports came in of at least a dozen filling stations in the Memphis area adding water to their storage tanks to stretch the fuel further (yes, you can do this, but it's a pretty cheap dodge--a car will run comfortably enough for a while with watered-down fuel, but a hedge-trimmer will sputter or stall on an amount as small as a gob of spit in the tank.) Bush took the blame for something that wasn't his fault, and his post 9-11 poll numbers took a huge hit. Flash forward twenty years, with Biden/Harris in office, gas up to five and even six dollars per, and the Democrats shrugging their shoulders and saying "Problem? We see no problem here" as they propped up the wrinkled, flatulent old mummy in his executive chair and gave him his nightly tapioca. They are very dangerous, disingenuous people.
