So Rarity does have deep thoughts from time to time, but hides it under a veneer of airheaded sluttiness. She may feel at times like a glorified seamstress, butwe've seen her run wild with her creativity before, in proper show canon, and we know how badly that turned out... so I don't think she's ready to launch a "Rarity original" line just yet. Also, strictly speaking, Equestria is a matriarchy, since it is run by two female rulers, so Rarity might be sort of talking out her pretty little butt here. Maybe she whiles away those long hours in the shop listening to Pony versions of Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity, and it's given her some notions?...
I've always wondered what character politics was. There have been people who did that based off the show... But I am trying to guess based off this series. THIS comic series. Twilight, while smart and uses science, she seems to be conservative in her values as we've seen when she says there is "nothing wrong with waiting" when Dash brings up being a virgin. In yet another, with various people at her door, she did mention to a colt that she already gives money to her local church. Though when a politician and a union rep came to her door, she tried to brush them off really quickly. Other then that, we haven't seen much of Twilight's political leanings.
