Truck & Logistics Simulator ThoughtsOkay, I think I am safe to post pics and impressions of
Truck & Logistics Simulator now. Hopefully no update from SCS for a bit for those who want to discuss. In my initial post, I may have been a bit harsh. Clearly SCS has the upper hand on creating realistic maps, both Euro and American, but this developer does have some decent graphics and does a lot to make the world expansive and active. The more I drive it, the more I see it. It's clearly not going to win an award for realism, as it's clearly a Euro developer trying to make a American/Euro hybrid world. The map is large though. The world has a lot of towns and cities and it aims to be more American, but there are clearly European areas and mostly Euro road signs. So it's a weird hybrid. I can assure you ai is worse in some regards, but all east they stop and don't run into you when merging.

Jobs are varied and depend on the vehicles you buy and the skills you have. The image below is an example of some jobs. If using a particular truck, the first job you can do requires you to drive new automobiles onto the trailer, then drive the truck with the cars to the destination. Others require you to drive a tractor to load a dumper trailer with material, then drive the truck to the destination. There are options to have many different steps when delivering a job. Getting a job is similar here to ETS2 or ATS, you have to drive to the depot in this open world, select a job you want, then it seamlessly launches you into the job.

So here is an image of me driving a tractor, loading it with rocks, and dumping it into a trailer. I will then have to grab my truck, hitch it to the trailer, and drive off with the loaded trailer to a set location.

Here I am driving a pickup and trailer for an RV company to a RV dealership.

Vehicles are broken down into classes. You have cars, vans, pickups, trucks, and a few more. Each class has a handful of different vehicles. Cars are use for small delivers or being a safety car for other big trucks. Some care can tow small trailers or cement mixers. Each class gets progressively bigger and can do more. Scania and MAN are the only licensed real vehicles in the game, because apparently they hand out licenses to anyone who asks. But all the other in-game vehicles are clearly based on real vehicles including GMC trucks, Ford Mustang's, Audi's, Renault's, Ford's, Volvo Trucks, Mercedes Actros, and more. Detailing in the vehicles isn't nearly as detailed as you'd expect from SCS. But it is passable. You can modify vehicles, but it is fairly limited to color and a handful accessories, parts, and liveries. There are performance parts to make vehicles more capable.

Figured you'd want to compare the licensed trucks to ETS2.

Overall it's not a bad game. It's actually kind of fun. You can tell the developer is really trying and loves this. It's sort of a wishlist of all the things they wish ATS and ETS had, and put it into a game. The grind is doing jobs, earning money to buy new vehicles which opens up even more jobs, etc. I'd say pick it up on sale if this sounds interesting to you.
