So what I noticed from the Road Kings gameplay.
Map details are excellent. Cities look lived in and lively. Map looks like it will be quite dense around towns and cities.
Cities shown seem to be realistically modeled with areas made to be just as real world locations.
Radio has actual traffic updates and there are traffic jams. Lane closings possible. Radio updates are dynamic.
Game has radio channels! Aimed for realism and they sound real good.
Visually there is no doubt this game looks fantastic. Weather, lightning, shadows, it's fantastic.
The menu screen presentation is very modern.
Lots of camera angles, similar to what we are used to in ATS and ETS.
Lots of traffic with a good amount of variety.
Can get surprise pickups and alerts while driving.
Truck models look excellent.
Truck customization is in the game. The editor appears to be quite robust.
There is dynamic in-game music similar to a Rockstar game like Red Dead Redemption II or GTA V.
Detailed rest/sleep periods while driving, like a real trucker. It appears you can rest anywhere it is legal, not limited to rest stops or certain parking spots.
It appears you can drive into driveways and parking lots anywhere.
Fictional companies.
Even when driving normally, there is a lot of head bobble with the camera, which apparently can be turned off.
Truck audio sounds a bit canned in my opinion.
Depots are all uniquely made and vary from small to sprawling.
The amount of assets and traffic in this game blow anything SCS has ever done out of the water.
Rest areas and weight stations in the game.
There is multiplayer.
There is company building.
Multi-drop deliveries are a thing!
Weather is dynamic and changes throughout the day. Lighting is visually impressive.
You get to choose where your load goes in your trailer. You can plan the specific location the loads are placed in your trailer. You can overload and underlay as well as get in trouble for loading too much.
Listening for radio updates seems important for weather and traffic.
Storms and hurricanes are a real thing for this part of the country and it looks like they will have some astounding set dressing.
Yes, the disasters and big events have an arcade aspect to them for sure. But it seems like there is realism with the day to day travel.
You can compete for contracts to help during storms and natural disasters to try and beat rival companies.
Amazing footage towards the end.
Overall impressions, the game looks real good. I mean . . . REALLY good. Realism is there, but there are still some things such as freeways and highways as accurate as ATS they haven't mastered. There is a huge variety of buildings in the world and things look purpose built and hand placed. Driving itself looks real good and the trucks are very detailed. Only saw one trailer type so far but the unique ability to load your own load is awesome. As is, this game is definitely going to make its mark and make SCS Software take notice. There is a lot of things here people have wanted SCS to do for years, finally taking place. Visually this game is very impressive. The map looks detailed and very dense, but they have a nice balance with wide open drives it seems. It looks real promising.
