Dirt buildup would be a fun thing to see. Since we were talking about Russia from that blog post, I decided to drive into Russia for the first time in ETS2. I am pretty disappointed. A lot of it is just forest, event around the big cities. None of it seems as nicely detailed as other parts of the map that came out in the same DLC. Everything was also way too pristine, though when I did my drive in, it was stormy, which helped bring the mood down a bit.
I know things are nicer and more modern in and around Saint Petersburg, but even that, everything was too modern and pristine. None of the roads around the map seemed to have potholes or wear. It was just an overly glossed over part of the map. The details weren't nearly as good in this part of the map compared to even a country like Estonia, or the other Baltic states. I was pretty let down. I was even more disappointed in a part of Saint Petersburg where I ended up in the heart of the city, but it was so basic, so devoid of life. The city center is supposed to be beautiful and full of historic buildings. It just seemed so bland, dead, and no people. I didn't see a single person anywhere in Russia except at the border stations. We need life in the cities.
I will say they did detail Kaliningrad much better than the heartland part. Hopefully when the new DLC comes out, they can touch up on the older part of Russia, make it look better, and add some wear and grime. Here are a few photos I took from my adventure. Only three.
I was first greeted by this shining beacon of depression.

Followed by this, where SCS didn't even fill in all the grass.

And then this, where it is fully exposed to the player, but looks incomplete. That one container is partially in the ground.

See what I am saying? It all seems so empty, devoid of life. Why are there these massive empty fields right in the middle of a city as well? It's kind of disappointing. They did so much better on the other Baltic states.
