I also finally realized why Finland is known for their lakes. They are EVERYWHERE!
The physical map of that region gives me impression that some time ago there was one huge lake, divided to a bunch of smaller ones after the water level went down.

Luckily, the bottom was not flat, so the water mostly remained on its place instead of collecting at one of the former lake’s edge, which happened with Aral Sea:
