So, now I have a setup for exploring Illinois (there are so many loading screens with Chicago already). 860 cab is sooo smooth — the existing dryvans look too angular and need more streamlined shape to match its design. Anyway, I like the new VNL face more than one Volvo makes for Europe.

Before bying that, I tried the electric truck just to fill the gap ;D. Not bad, but... too easy ;D.

The first thing I appreciate so much is that they work better with Steam today — I was able to pay for the DLC in a minute after pressing the button ;D. Sometimes in the past, it could take an hour or even more before the DLC finally becomes available.
So, my first delivery is going to be from Dubuque to Chicago, and then further to the south. As usual, my exploration of new map started at midnight, so there was not so much to look at before I reached my first destination point.

So cool! I can't wait to try it out. :)

I'm always surprised when people go to the grand prize (Chicago in this case) first.  I always work around what I think will be the coolest part and save it for last. ;D

Typical midnight drive.  I'm in St. Louis heading to Springfield.

I do the same thing.  I save the big cities for last. :)  It's hard to do that in external contracts sometimes.

Well, Chicago has a lot of locations, so you still need to return there (preferably at daytime ) to see everything... and finally catch that train from the promo videos.
Unlike these new huge depots in the suburban area, the tunnels under Chicago have so small storages so there are no room for boom barriers, which makes them use the wedge barriers instead. As for details I like in every new SCS work, of course, there are new trees which form their own kind of tunnels above the rural roads ;D.

I already see a big contrast with other cities, where the buildings are much lower and don’t stand so close to each other, and outside scenery has endless fields. Also, the ad for the next state is already here.

They should stop giving the exploration achievement for discovering only a part of new cities — it took only five deliveries to open 8 cities of Illinois.

As for smaller details, I like how these slingshot-shaped power line towers are grey (zinc-coated?) near the freeway to match the lighting poles color, but are brown in areas with wooden utility poles to match their color as well ;D. However, the brown lighting poles also are present on the freeways... like it’s a sign we already are in the Rust Belt [excited]. Also, the new state has its own warning signs about the seatbelts and helmets — the second one looks not very clear for me, it needed a second look to learn what is drawn there and what that «GET IT ON» means (of course, my first thought was about the song ;D). Just a helmet on the white background could be better.
And yes, these beautiful driveways to the depots when the single right turn from the freeway is not enough .
