Also, I didn't choose a college till my senior year. ;)  So it varies for everyone.

I will admit, it would be better to look for college earlier then later.

True.
I don't know, I went to a pretty high end high school, and we were prepared from late sophomore year to start looking for colleges and doing community service to have better chances at higher scholarships.

We were told the same thing.  We did several workshops on how to write resumes, we were required to do community service to put on our resumes, and they required us to write at least one letter to a college in a course we all took.  They started us in sophomore year and did more in junior year.

The earlier you prepare for college, the less you will stress about it later.

In the end, it definitely looks like this advice is the one I should follow.

Yeah, that's how I see it. Start early, less stress.
Though I have to say, sometimes picking the right college ends up being the last one you applied for. I know the school I'm at now was the last one I found and applied for. And I couldn't be happier. However I wish I did more community service. I would have gotten a bigger scholarship. 18K isn't making that big a dent in the tuition :/

Expect the unexpected.  Seriously.  The college I wanted to go to, wasn't the one I thought I wanted to go too.

Also, don't be ashamed of community college.  It can save a bunch of money the first two years before jumping into a 4 year college for the last two years.  Just make sure credits transfer.

Yeah, that's always a good option if you don't know what you want to go into. Play it safe with community college for your first 2 years and then transfer into a good college for your interests.

Some people find it REALLY hard knowing what they want to do.  When you get out of college, finding a job can be very hard, and often your degree isn't going to matter to some companies that want to hire you simply because you have a degree.

Yeah. Someone told me, you have to get educated in something practical. Something in which your education has a functional use.
She studied 8 years to be some marine ecologist or biologist and there wasn't much functional use she had with that degree. So she went back for a course to learn how to do ultrasounds and the jobs came pouring in.
