Applecider Vinegar.  Give it a try.  It tastes crazy, but add water, make sure it's hot.

Is that to drink, or to gargle with?

I know gals sometimes bathe in that stuff to flush out the ol' lady lily, but I never considered taking it orally.

I've done it.  It has untested "benefits."  I will say this though, I have at times thrown a teaspoon of the apple cider vinegar in with hot water in the winter, and it tastes like Apple Cider with a bite.  It also curbs your appetite... at least sometimes.

But there are claims it does a lot of things like fix ailments and lower blood pressure, help headaches and soar throats, clear a stuffy nose, etc.

What about putting a slice of onion in your sock before bed?  Anything to that?

I've never heard that, but that clearly won't do anything other then attract critters to nibble on your toes.
