I went on Derpibooru to get a ref and I saw this pretty cute drawing in the little feature box. It's a sick, very grumpy looking Trixie. Red nose and slightly flared nostrils and all. I really do like the art style, it's very pretty and well detailed. The piece is by Hunterniff.

DA link and description:
"Illustration for a short fanfic from the 3rd printed story book in the series "Equestrian Tales"

Look at dat grumpy pone. So grump. And sick.

Derpibooru.
Tumblr

The description makes me wonder about this "Equestrian Tales" fanfic thing, but the description is also written in Russian, so I wonder if the fic is too. I'll look into it further and see what I can find.

Oh I wasn't aware she was sick, I thought it was just colored nose and blush from the cold weather.

Regardless though, it's a very incredible picture.

I thought so too at first, but when I saw the DA link name I realized she was meant to look sick. And look at dem bags. Like wow. She needs a nap.

I didn't know she was sick either.  I thought she was blushing for an unknown reason.  The pone in the background is far too delightful.

Love her little nostril flare on Trixie-wixie.

Hahaha!  That's cute.  Who's the stupid pony behind her though, and why the stupid look?

Love the painted look in this pic though.  That is pretty rad and quite a talent.

I think the Pone behind is probably an assistant or something and probably welcoming her in from the outside, since she has snow on her. She could be greeting her or offering to help and being cheery about it.

Really cute picture and superbly colored and done.  I wonder what medium they used.  If they used a computer to do it, call me impressed.

Yes, but it is hard to make stuff look like that on a computer.

Hand drawn art still has a distinct look to it, and can never be mimicked fully by a computer.  Expressionism on hand to paper is the truest form of hand drawn art.  A dance, a romance between the artist and paper with only a pencil being the scrub. :)

What do you mean? There's lots of great artists who can do stuff like that.

I feel like digital art still can look as good if not better than hand drawn stuff. As if you have a tablet it's nearly the same, except looking crisper. And if you are free handing you can still achieve the same expressions you could have on paper. It's only when it gets to CG that expressions get hindered.

Amen to that.  I still long for the simplicity of pen and paper.  You feel so connected to your work.
