I have been a fan of MLP since the first episode.
I think my favorite episode out of most is that first episode.
I do like the second one "Escape From Katrina"

Just the first one was so different from the rest.

Oh and

I grew up with them ^^ I must admit I was a bit diappointed in FiM at first, I felt that they had butchered my childhood, the show is good, it just lacks what the old ones had

At least you don't like the really bad old versions.
The older older versions were pretty cool

I liked all of G1, then MLP tales where they were teens.
Then it went downhill...

I was actually a fan of My Little Pony Tales a few years before the announcement of FiM's premier. I always thought Tales was really cute, and had a nice simple charm to it. Plus it was the first incarnation to actively integrate male and female ponies into the cast (as opposed to G1, which only had the one episode with the Big Brother Ponies).

Yeah that's true... and with tales  it went to be *ponies only*
Humans and other creatures disappeared.... Like the Bushwillies.... Miss those.

The new show lacks so many things: Flutter ponies, sea ponies, bushwillies
I was so sad when they brought back Tirek... he was so badass in the first episode he scared the crap out of me as a kid X3

Then they brought him back.... like this

He was still pretty scary. It might also be that you're just not a little kid anymore.
It's just how powerful he became and how intimidating he was that was scary.

As for creatures, the new show has griffons, the breezies, changelings, a lot of mythological creatures, and hints from the show writers point to sea ponies in the near future. I look forward to it!

Don't think it has to do with being a kid or not... He was way scarier, once he opened the pouch containing the rainbow of darkness you cowered.

Yup, he posessed the rainbow of darkness.
He had his servants capture some of the ponies and then turned them into monsters to pull his midnight wagon.
To defeat him, the ponies with help from their human friend Meghan, seeked out the only weapon that could finish him off; The rainbow of light.
It was only a tiny piece of the rainbow of light in the locket, but it defeated the rainbow of darkness and then defeated Tirek.
You should watch that episode
