Heck, it's nice to just see Sunburst and Roseluck again. It's been how long? Years?
The last time Sunburst and Roseluck were together in a comic was a very long time ago. (Time flies). It was 3 years ago. I guess they stopped working together when Sunburst kind of had hopes with Nurse Redheart maybe? But then nothing ever came of that. My guess is Sunburst never continued to try to be with her, or long distance relationships don't work kind of thing. Sunburst doesn't live in Ponyville in this comic and actually COMES to Ponyville from wherever he is living. I don't think we are told where he lives? I could be wrong. But it is said all the time he should visit next time in town, or he even
states he doesn't live in town.
Their last appearance together was "
Friendly Push" from 2018. Wow.
To make it weirder though, it is implied Sunburst and Roseluck still did get together as just a year ago in "
Like Old Friends," Sunburst is in Roseluck's shop helping out. We just don't see Lily in the episode, but they obviously were together (we just don't see it). Also strangely the premise is similar in that Starlight tells Sunburst they should "get together" and he should "call" her. Nothing went anywhere with this as well. Unless of course this current episode sort of continues this trend of Starlight telling Sunburst to contact her and he never does. It is most likely do to anxiety and fear of how to act.
So maybe it is just now we are going to see where this goes if Sunburst actually follows through. Sunburst if you recall did come over once when Twilight invited him over. That was 4 years ago, starting with the episode "
Blind Hope." Roseluck preps him to visit in
"Wedding Bells", then he fails miserably in "
Once, Twice...."
All that happened before singles night at the church too when Starlight told him they should remain friends.
So they have a pretty deep history. But it was pretty clear after the singles night, Sunburst and Roseluck sort of disappeared from the series only now to be picked up again in this latest episode. Let's hope it continues to go somewhere.
