I think its a joke on wine making one gassy.

Thats a thing?

That's what I took from it. Different drinks do affect people differently.

I truly think it's just telling us that Rarity is becoming an unstable wineo.

This series tells us stories and continues stories where we least expect it.  It is continuing Rarity's storyline in an episode that has NOTHING to do with her.

It is very possible the episode's joke had many meanings.  It's been done before by them.

It's puzzling when they can make a episode that makes you feel both good and bad.  Such a mixture of emotions.  Lol.

How come we still know nothing about the creators of this series?  Lol. We don't even have a name for them.  The audience is split 50/50 as to if they are male or female.

I think it's both since it's a team I assume of male and female people.

I think this is it.  I am confident this is it.

The series has presented Rarity to be quite wacky at times.

*Shrugs*

They give us a lot of access to talk to them, but we know nothing about them, lol.

Things are tough all over, I take it-- the farm is struggling, people are wearing their clothes longer, not buying fashionable new duds (hence Rarity's shop losing money, and her drinking)... how long before the soft economy strikes Pinkie Pie's job at the bakery, or Rainbow Dash when attendance at the Wonderbolt shows drops, or the cost of feed skyrockets and Fluttershy's animals start having to cut back on meals? Maybe a not to the old cartoon gag where they start imagining one another as burgers and chicken drumsticks?

^ Interesting.  I wonder if this is leading to a story arc to talk about poverty or hard times?  That would be pretty unique.  That is never done.

But the Apple's don't look like they are doing all that bad, nor Rarity.  But things can change.

I don't think Applejack would do that... would she?  Maybe if she lived in the south, but they clearly don't live in the south here. No hollows to hide around in.

She might have a few shady relatives who do it, though... and moonshine is actually becoming more mainstream.  Gone are the days of stereotypical cartoonish bearded hillbillies, secret stills in remote locations, and big ceramic jugs marked with "XXX", my dear-- it's a growing industry. They even have a TV show on cable about it, Moonshiners--I heard about it on the John Boy and Billy Big Show. One of their "funny buddies",  "Killer" Beaz, was on an episode; he dropped by the studio one morning and brought over a jug of his product for everyone.

That said, if Granny Smith ever heard of such a thing, she'd probably put a hoof in somebody's ass....

I know of the show Moonshiners.  I don't think it's on tv, but it used to be on Discovery, lol.  I admit I watched a few episodes...  I am sure it was over dramatized as all those "reality tv documentary" style shows are.

Moonshiners is still on the air producing new episodes.  It started in 2011.
