It was pretty simple but cute at the same time. That seems to happen a lot.

This series as well as other successful series follow a fine balance of knowing how to tug at the viewers heart. That allows for a good reaction.
Keep it simple, cute, and kind. But they also know they can't do it all the time otherwise it loses the effect. They are lucky they've built up Twi and Spike so well that they could probably do a dozen of these in a row and everyone would love it still. They got such a great bond.
