Yes, I've seen it and mentioned it. Like the Bat-Fam show, it just seems to be a vehicle for winks and nods to the original Hanna-Barbera cartoons. If you like them so much, writers, then just do a straightforward old-school H-B cartoon (Spumco's attempts and Jellystone aren't cutting it, I'm afraid).  Looney Tunes Cartoons came closest to this dream, and I still think it could have done more--there seems to be enough unassigned and unproduced material to make up a "soft" season 7, with maybe some minor tweaks for modern sensibilities (say, Inki now a schoolboy with dreadlocks, or Coal Black as a smart businesswoman).

I mean, how many times can I write things like, "This isn't the first time we've seen Bruce with a full beard" or "The Joker with long hair? So 2004" at TV Tropes before--

The problem is whenever they try to do an homage to the classics, you know it's going to be cancelled quickly and they never market them.  I also think part of that is they know people aren't into that style of cartoon anymore.  It's dead and it has been since the 60's.  Sure there are pockets who enjoy it, but it's a minority now days when other shows are doing so much more that people seem to latch onto.

Mindless cartoons aren't popular anymore.

Of course this can change again in the future.

Well, admittedly, even back in the sixties, not every pitch the boys at WBA came up with was golden.

Yeah, I can see how cartoons with outdated stereotypes and glorifying alcoholism wouldn't really fly.  Although that "Jeannie The Genius" one sounds like a cute idea... Maybe add an animal sidekick, have her host an E/I science show for kids...?     


They've vacillated between the humorous and the more grim-and-gritty Batman cartoons for some twenty years now, and they just can't quite land on one that promises the longevity of Batman:The Animated Series. But, sadly, it's a lot easier to adapt and reboot existing properties that create whole new ones from scratch and sell them to a network.   :'(

Batman:The Animated Series really was a perfect mix, but they've really leaned into more adult Batman adjacent series lately such as with the Harley Quinn series. Not sure if it's good, but I surprisingly don't hear people talk about a show with a hot female lead.

...Looney Tunes Unleashed, eh?  I'll admit, I hadn't thought of that one in years until Teen Titans Go did an episode about it. Apparently their Satan functionary, Trigon the Terrible, bought the ownershop rights in a merger...?  Yeah, sounds 'bout right.  Ooh, and both The Batman and Beware The Batman.  The timing couldn't be better; I had been kind of hankering to give those a rewatch.  I've got it on my calendar for after I've finished with The Jackie Chan Adventures. "One more thing!..."

Paramount made a better offer over Netflix to buy Warner Brothers-Discovery. With Netflix gone from negotiations, the stage is officially set for a gargantuan merger of some of Hollywood's biggest companies ever at $110 billion! What can we expect from Paramount Warner Bros Discovery? This would probably mean a lot of cost cutting and Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon would actually no longer be competitors as they would be under the same company!

Looney Tunes Gokko drops in April; new Daffy Duck short premieres in theaters



...I-I think half my teeth just fell out and then I farted blood from looking upon all this unmitigated cuteness.  Why do we need a chibi Tweety?  He's already a baby... or at least was, initially.

 I am intrigued by news of a brand-new Daffy cartoon premiering right before the Cat in the Hat movie, however.  I wonder if Pete Browngardt and company are behind it?... The title card does look very LTC style....

Didn't even know there was a new Daffy cartoon.  Is it just a one-off?  They had a movie release last year about space or something.

Too early to tell. I'd like to see them do more theatrical shorts, like in the old days.
I've suggested before they could revisit some of their old scrapped ideas--that "Meat Me" project sounds interesting, as does "Executive Tweet"...

 Although ironically I haven't been in a theater in...um, le'ssee, what year did the movie Home come out?      ...Wow, it has been a while...

It really doesn't look good.  The animation looks like those cheap or early 3D cutscenes in video games. Especially Foghorn.

I get that.  It's actually making me think of Looney Tunes Back in Action, a flop film from way back when.  WB wanted Space Jam success to continue, and Back In Action ruined 2D animation for the whole studio, despite it being incredibly animated. It was the messed up storyline that helped screw things up.
