Generation Z [is] more optimistic. . In that they're too wide eyed, try stupid things because heck let's try it and see what happens. Risk-taking can be good, in theory, if it pans out. But how many times will they fail before it crushes their spirit and they learn that one mistake can result in life-rending, crippling punishment? I have found that I've found it best to stay with the familiar and not try for anything new. That is how my generation was taught. Why bother? The price of failure is simply too high. If we ever hope for any positive change, we need to improve the system itself, stop penalizing ambition, and increase the rewards for showing initiative.
Okay, yes and no. You have to take risks sometimes, because that is how people either get ahead or don't. But yes also in that you need to make calculated risks and be smart about what you do. Don't be reckless. Staying in your comfort zone is good, but you need to get out of it sometimes... even if you don't want too. You never know, that Thai restaurant might be very good down the street.
