I don't think they fully understood autism when Porifera Roberto first made his debut in 1999. A lot more kids seem to be diagnosed with the condition these days, for better or worse, and "on the spectrum" seems to be the hip new buzzword (they also use it for human sexuality, which only seems to confuse things more) the last few years. Tom Kenny is hardly an expert, I believe, on psychology... It's actually a little uncomfortable when people claim they can "tell" if someone is autistic just by looking at their face for signs--seems I've heard such a thing before, in these old films I saw... although I admit it was a little hard to follow along because all the narration was in German....     :-[   :'(

Seems like something they added last minute to gain some media buzz and new viewers.  Move along.

The new Netflix special, "Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie," seems to be getting mixed to positive reviews from critics and fans alike.  Them movie is focused on Sandy and reviews say it finally dives deeper into who she is and her character. Overall, mainly a film for kids, not adults according to most reviews.

Just thinking of classic Nickelodeon today and watched some clips.

This just made me laugh going back to it.  What makes it funny is that Tom Kenny voices Heffer and the Bus Driver!  He is yelling at himself.  I would love to see Tom Kenny in the booth doing the Bus Driver's lines.  So much hilarious passion in it.  Rocko's Modern Life was SO good.

Also this scene with Rocko, Heffer, and Filbert is hilarious.  Filbert is played by Mr. Lawrence, the voice to Plankton and Larry.

I've said the same thing about Charlie Adler (Ed Bighead, Bev Bighead, The Fatheads, the nose-picking boss, Gladys--"How DAAAAAr-eeeeeee you!").  Actually, I have seen footage of Adler in action. Imagine a 5′ 9″--I'd have sworn, like, six, six-two easy, but that's how larger-than-life he looks--guy who looks like a biker dude, in a cutoff vest, long hair and beard, there in the booth, doing a tiny little girl voice into the mic.

This is actually Adler's "Red Guy" character, a whole other show, but close your eyes a moment, if you will, and imagine it's the Bigheads having sex.

Yeah, maybe not the best idea. Geez, that girl puked all the way into the previous scene.   Fetch a mop....

Lol! Great videos guys. Yes, Charlie Adler is fantastic. One of the best out there along with Tom Kenny.

Oh, hey, did you know Dan Povenmire was a writer for Nickelodeon back in the day? From "Popcorn Pandemonium", one of his shorts:

Note the name of the cereal in the kung-fu gerbil movie preview... Dan definitely had a penchant there. In fact, there was even a minor character named "Ferb in another episode--he was a contractor Rocko once wanted to hire the services of, but instead they went with another, cheaper guy who was a tad obsessed with bathrooms.

It's always fun to see where the creators of our favorite shows first got their start--today's cel wipes* and in-betweeners, tomorrow's directors.

* Actually, they don't use animation cels anymore. I guess the modern equivalent would be a digital tracer

That was pretty silly.  The voices fit too!

Paramount made a better offer over Netflix to buy Warner Brothers-Discovery. With Netflix gone from negotiations, the stage is officially set for a gargantuan merger of some of Hollywood's biggest companies ever at $110 billion! What can we expect from Paramount Warner Bros Discovery? This would probably mean a lot of cost cutting and Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon would actually no longer be competitors as they would be under the same company!

Thoughts?

If they can sort out who owns the rights to what, this might open up availability for a lot more great streaming content. It'd be the first time shows like You Can't Do That On Televison, Roundhouse, Salute Your Shorts, and Welcome Freshmen have been seen outside of blurry, incomplete VHS rips on YouTube in thirty years or more. Maybe they'll even lift the moratorium on Ren and Stimpy. Of course we may never be able to look at All That and The Amanda Show the same way after learning what those kids went though and seeing those fun-loving child stars, now in their thirties, staring at us from our screens with the vacant haunted eyes of eighty year-old war atrocity victims.

Either Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon will probably get cut completely.  The branding will probably be used for the one that gets cut on television for the online streaming service. :P

Paramount+ and HBO MAX will merge to one service.
