Yet most people don't notice it or are blind to it.  Sad.  I'm surprised this article was even published with that title.  I found it by mistake and decided to post it.  Couldn't find it really anywhere else.  Figures it would be on a news channel from the other side of the country in Seattle, opposite of New York.

China doesn't have the same capabilities and technology as the US.  The US is still the forefront in technology.  Second, and distant behind still, would be the EU and Israel.

It is concerning what China is doing in the South China Sea.  They are closer to Taiwan and have better access to other Indo-Asian countries.  It is a great place to have a huge navy base and air base to make getting to destinations quicker, and being in the center.  It is safe to say, you don't want China building there.

And what is stopping others someday to make artificial islands for land gains?

They sort of do... artificial coral reefs made of discarded junk-- none large enough to be called a sovereign nation, of course, that would take a lot of refuse...

I'm oddly reminded of this old Dick Tracy cartoon in which two crooks perpetrate a scam with phony inflatable islands to bilk gullible real-estate investors.
