I had to look at the map for this city and it's pretty crazy how close to the border it is to the other countries. It makes you wonder who drew the lines? Like why did Italy get this little piece of land along the water, while Slovenia got the mountain behind the city, and a tiny piece of waterfront for water access just south of the port. It's so weird.
Nothing geographically should split this area up among three countries, yet random lines drawn by someone does.
Trieste and Koper are both important seaports for each country, and they are so close to each other. I wonder how SCS will fit it all in?
Does anyone know if Italy has open borders with Slovenia? Looking at street view, it looks like they at one time had infrastructure for border checkpoints, but at street view, all the checkpoints look old and abandoned. Even the main motorways access points.
