Meh.... if they want to revisit Osmosis Jones with Inside Out 2, why not just do an Osmosis Jones sequel?

...Yeah, I know, OJ isn't a Pixar pic.  Still, though, why keep knocking off a twenty-year-plus old movie starring a stand-up comic who is, himself, making jokes about another twenty-year-plus old movie, and is himself struggling to stay relevant?

Pixar just recently announced a new original animated movie at D23 that will come out in 2026 before Toy Story 5 which is called Hoppers.

It will be about a teenage girl named Mabel (not to be confused with the other Mabel from Gravity Falls) who places her brain into a robotic beaver and she takes the form of being in the robotic beaver to investigate a forest, which is a kingdom for forest animals.

Also fun fact, it's being made by the creator of We Bare Bears. :D

Here is first look footage to the movie which was shown at D23.

Sounds goofy.  We'll see how it goes.

Glad to see the WBB creator get another chance at something.

I’m personally quite eager to see Hoppers when it comes out in two years for now, plus giving the fact that it’s being made by the same person who created We Bare Bears.

(BTW, I kinda hope Hoppers will have a sneeze in it XD)

They also announced Toy Story 5 and a new Pixar created TV show. The first of its kind.

^ This movie looked aimless from the beginning unfortunately.  No real purpose and general direction from the teasers.  It appears it's going to be a weak showing but it might improve with time. We are officially in the dark ages of Pixar right now.

'Elio’ Heads for Lowest Opening in Pixar History

'Elio' looks to debut in third place behind the live-action 'Dragon' pic and Danny Boyle's zombie sequel '28 Years Later,' which is opening in second place with a solid $30 million or more.

Facing fierce competition from How to Train Your Dragon and fellow Disney release Lilo & Stitch, Elio took in $9 million on Friday for a projected third-place domestic opening in the $20 million to $22 million range. Elio — an original film about a young boy whose wish to travel to outer space and interact with aliens comes true — was expected to open to at least $30 million domestically.

But with interest stalling in recent days, Disney insiders lowered their projections to $20 million to $25 million as Pixar braced for the worst 3-day opening in its history behind Elemental ($29.6 million) in June 2023 and its very first film, 1995’s Toy Story ($29.1 million), not adjusted for inflation. Toy Story opened over Thanksgiving and amassed $39 million over the long five-day holiday weekend.

In 2023, Elemental‘s opening was called nothing short of a debacle, yet it turned into a sleeper hit on its way to earning nearly $500 million globally. Pixar and parent company Disney, are confident that Elio will have the same sort of staying power throughout the summer when kids are sprung from school. So far, Elio is graced with a better critics score on Rotten Tomatoes than Elemental, as well as glowing PostTrak exit results and an A CinemaScore, including an A+ from kids.

We are officially in the dark ages of Pixar right now.

They have an obsession with space related things and abstracts.  It's becoming pretty boring and samey.  Even Toy Story 5 seems to have a space element to it.

Seems appropriate that "Hopper" is another word for a toilet, given the company's recent output/fortunes. That post is a year old, so that movie's probably streaming on Hulu or Disney Plus by now, right?

I forgot it was announced.  Let me see if it was dropped.

Nope.  It is set to release in March 2026.

Really, Pixar's animation style has been mimicked by so many, they just don't seem special anymore.  They have also started doing that jellybean smile look and just appear very samey to others.  Their stories have suffered and their character design has become boringly generic.

Pixar fans are now becoming quite concerned as we see and learn more about "Hoppers."  Public opinion has been pretty middling for this film so far. This comes on the heels of Elio being yet another flop for Pixar.  Pixar's dark age is the 2020s apparently.
