ELIO  We are in box office bomb territory right now.  I doubt this movie will see a resurgence unless it somehow picks up massive July 4th weekend numbers, but I doubt it.

As of June 29, 2025, Elio has grossed $42 million in the United States and Canada, and $30.4 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $72.3 million.

It’s sad. I actually gave this movie a shot. I rather enjoyed it. Why? Because it’s an original story as opposed to all the sequels and rehashes we’ve been getting. Plus it did not have a very good advertising campaign. I barely knew a thing about this film but I took a chance on it and….yeah don’t buy into all the posts about it flopping as a dissuasion.

So it was a pretty good movie? Reviews seem to be pretty good, but it's just people aren't going to see it.

I thought it was pretty good for what it was. It’s something a lot more original than what’s been put out lately by Disney. I’ve actually been seeing news though that test screenings were not that well received and the final product is far different than what the original cut was intended to be, and the makers themselves didn’t like it. But in the end it’s not about if the producers don’t like it, it’s about the audience. And as a member of the audience I can say solidly that I liked it. I very much liked the message it was trying to convey.

I haven't seen Elio so I can't say anything other than what I've heard others say.  A lot of people claim it is very cookie cutter and unoriginal, yet Blurr says the opposite.  I want to side with Blurr here.  I will eventually get to watching this.

And now Hoppers has a Teaser Trailer.  It's from the creator of We Bare Bears.

Whether deserving or not, people are already very anti "Hoppers."  They are piling on it, especially after the absolute failure that was "Elio."  Movie might be good, but people mostly overall are disliking on the trailer.

It doesn't sound interesting and they are going hard into that "Gen Z" humor. I think it will fall flat on its face. It doesn't look interesting and that teaser was cringe from beginning to end.

The many off-color Sapphism-heavy "beaver" jokes fairly write themselves.

The teaser trailer is very cringeworthy for sure.  It's obviously aimed to a newer audience.  Certainly doesn't have that Pixar charm or care in the writing.  I will reserve judgement until we know more.

The first teaser for Toy Story 5, the movie no one asked for, has been released.  Coming 2026.

Very weird.  Toy Story 5 and Hoppers each release rather close to each other.  I think this shows that Disney does not expect Hoppers to be successful hoping TS5 to pick up the slack.

Hoppers is set for March 6, 2026..

Toy Story 5 is set for June 19, 2026.

That was a very unappealing teaser actually. I expected better. It was very run-of-the-mill.

I am being overly finicky though.

The trailer literally made the whole movie DOA (Dated On Arrival). Plus I hate that this renders the perfectly fine ending we got with 4 completely pointless.
