Well, following the smooth curves is much more relaxed — no wonder if 900-degree wheel has a circular length compared with spreaded arms width, and the analogue stick on my XboxOne controller has a range compared with my thumb width ;D. The difference in range between analogue trigger and pedal is less impressive, but still exists.
The downside is in that’s a huge stationary controller with a lot of wires, also, games like *TS may become too easy ;D. Some old-school driving games (like NFS:PU) are much more difficult when you play them not on keyboard, that was a surprise for me :-0.
I can also say that I use the manual gearbox primarily because the playing with a wheel and autogear have absolutely no challenge for me, and not because I can have a correct RPM before the hill (not in middle of it). I can try the automatic transmission for a several minutes, after that I get bored and return to manual one. Of course, cities are better for automatic, but I don’t spend a lot of time there ;D.

UPD: OK, today we have two news:
First one: the map is revealed!
And they left us no choice of truck for exploring the new state ;D.
If honest, since LT and Lonestar share so many parts, there is no wonder why LT arrived so fast. In my opinion, the 3-axle chassis looks a bit long if you take the daycab, so I’m going to use this truck either as 3-axle + sleeper, or as 2-axle + daycab.

Lot's and lots of news for ATS.  ATS is really rolling at full horsepower. ;D  It is the brand with the most future because they got all fifty states, plus all of North America.

ETS2 is quiet, but has a big update eventually.  They will need to expand to the arctic north and down by Greece, but they are running out of 'Europe.'  They can also rebuild a lot too from what I've been reading from you guys.

I like the look of that International LT.  It has a nice smooth design and I like it's grille and headlights.

Well pretty much every modern truck I like is in ATS now.  I am happy.

Wyoming's map looks good in full detail too! We get to go through Yellowstone National Park too.

It has become an ATS bonanza really for the past year and a half.  ETS2 will have the big Russia expansion, but we won't hear much until they feel more confident they can share more.

But to be honest, the ATS map team has been doing bigger maps at a higher level of detail than the ETS2 map team for quite awhile.  You have to even consider this, their latest map, Spain, was a big map for the ETS2 team... but it was about an average sized map for the ATS team.  It is just a little bit bigger than Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Oregon, Washington, etc.  The previous ETS2 update was the map that went towards Turkey.  That was a big map too, and roughly the size of one of the US western states... on average.

The momentum and excitement really is with ATS at the moment.  New maps faster, new trucks (to catch up), etc.

But ETS2 has a lot that will all become complete eventually soon.  They have a lot of rebuilding they are doing, and that will come out as well. (Granted ATS is now rebuilding parts of the map too).

You seem like you enjoy following this game, Raine. :)  That makes me happy.  Have you considered buying it?  If you do, wait till the release of the Wyoming DLC.  The base game will probably be on sale for $4.99 and have a discount on many of the map DLCs. :D

Thank you for your input.  You explained what I was most curious about (the turning radius).  I don't know if I would buy the pedals because I don't really have room for all this stuff, so I was hoping the steering wheel would have a paddle shifter for acceleration and brakes.

That is sound information. I sometimes get free keys for the game, and if I do and you are interested, I can give it to you, Rainberry.  You will just need a Steam account.

Okay, question for everyone so we can get some interaction going here!

WHAT IS YOUR TOP WORK TRUCK?

This might not be your favorite truck, but it's the truck you feel most confident about.  It's always reliable, and it will tackle any load you throw at it.  It will push through whether it's rain or muddy roads.  This is your work truck, and it's always ready to work.  What is it for you?

WHAT IS YOUR TOP WORK TRUCK?

So for me, my dedicated work truck for ETS2 is maybe one people will be surprised about.  It isn't my favorite truck, and it isn't even that fast.  But it just always goes and pulls no matter what.  It works hard for me. It is the original MAN TGX.  I don't know what it is about this truck, but it always just works it's hardest for me and I love it for that.  My particular one has the D2676 397 engine.

My dedicated work truck in ATS is rather new to the game, but it has quickly become my darling favorite as well as my dedicated work truck.  It is the long nose Western Star 49X. I love this truck.  It has that low end grunt and really gets things moving and works both on the blacktop and off of it.  Nothing slows it down.  Prior to this, the closest thing I had to a dedicated work truck was just my normal daily, a Kenworth T680 used mainly for highway travel.  But the 49X has taken my love to a whole new level.  I know it will be confident on the paved roads as well as the dirt ones.  It has somehow skyrocketed to be my favorite new truck overall.

Just so happens my work truck in ETS2 is also my first and favorite truck, lol.  It tells you just how long I've been playing this game.  It is my original 2009 Volvo FH16 Globetrotter. It has the 750hp engine with the optimal transmission for good low end grunt.  I have confidence in this truck all the time.  It also has the most mileage (I don't know what it is off the top of my head).

The same can also be said for my ATS work truck which happens to be the new Western Star 49X.  I didn't buy this truck until they made the sleeper variant which I then bought and started driving.  I fell in love with it pretty fast and it has been no slouch at hauling my heavy duty materials. It has now become my dedicated truck over my original Kenworth T680.  I have confidence in both of the trucks, but for right now, the Western Star is my dedicated heavy duty work truck.

I see T680 has a lot of love here. ;D Well, it’s the «default» truck for me too, although the last year was spent mostly with 49X and Cascadia. Of course, I love 389’s look, but don’t very like its length and annoying turn indicators which are covered by most types of steering wheels.

In ETS it’s a Volvo, but the newer one.

I don't know if I would buy the pedals because I don't really have room for all this stuff, so I was hoping the steering wheel would have a paddle shifter for acceleration and brakes.
Well, the paddle shifter of my G27 have not so much convenient shape for using them as throttle and brake buttons (after all, braking with a button is much worse than with an analogue pedal), because it’s difficult to keep hands on them while turning the wheel more than for 180 degrees ;D.
If honest, using the paddles for braking/acceleration reminds me about cars for people with leg disabilities — the horns on this photo are connected with brake and throttle pedals, and the black lever is tied to the clutch — so you need to use left and then right hand for every gear shift. It could be much easier if there was an auto transmission, but most popular low-budget cars don’t have them even as an option — well, in the former Soviet Union things were even worse — automatic is only in the limousines for chosen ones, or, maybe, in some buses or rare experimental cars.

While I love the Cascadia, it isn't my dedicated work truck.  If I had to think really hard, it is the Kenworth W900, though the Western Star 49X is now working its way up there too.  It seems like everyone so far like the new Western Star.  It took awhile with a lot of us until they introduced the sleeper cab.

As for ETS, but go-to work truck is my original Volvo FH16.  The 2009 variant.  It just keeps running and keeps going.  Though my regular truck has recently been the newer Scania.

My off-road work truck has become the Western Star 49X.  I guess I am like everyone else here. ;D  Prior to that it was mostly the W900.

In ETS2 I used to use the MAN truck for off-road heavy duty.  It was reliable at it's job.
