Yet I am still driving my same old trucks in ETS2, though I do have some newer trucks in ATS.
The trucking sim without a Magnum and pre-2012 Volvo FH would be a sad thing — there are a lot of people who love them ;D.

My main truck in ETS2 is still the pre-2012 Volvo FH.

On an unrelated note.... and maybe I tried this out just for fun.... but the Volvo FH I believe is the fastest truck at top speed, or at least it can get their easiest.  I had it reach speeds of over 100mph (160kmh) without really trying on a flat stretch of road.  Many other trucks only get to about 90mph (144kmh).  But again, lol, this is purely for scientific research, lol.

Here are also some interesting statistics someone did.  They are a bit outdated now since they were done in 2017.

Euro Truck Vehicle Performance Test

Hi everyone.

Let me first state I had no biases in this test. It was purely for enjoyment and curiosity.

Each truck was bought in it's highest trim level with the most powerful engine. Each transmission was a ZF 12 speed geared towards normal loads. All Chassis were 4x2.

Each ruck was run 11 times for each test. The slowest time of each was removed then the times were averaged.

Not every truck in the game is included in this test because I am not made of money and can't afford them all.

It was overcast in every test, and all were done in the evening on a straight stretch of road. I did my best to not vary each test. No mods ever. I don't claim these to be 100% accurate as that is impossible, but I tried my 100% best to be as precise as possible.

I hope you enjoy my results.

American Truck Vehicle Performance Test

Hi everyone.

Let me first state I had no biases in this test. It was purely for enjoyment and out of curiosity.

Each truck was bought in it's highest trim level with the most powerful engine. Each transmission was an Allison 6 speed geared towards normal loads. All Chassis were the same.

(I will add more results as I test more trucks)

HORSEPOWER RATING (tie)

1. Kenworth W900 - 550hp
1. Peterbilt - 550hp

QUICKEST 0-30MPH

1. Peterbilt 579 - 4.71sec
2. Kenworth W900 - 5.43sec

QUICKEST 0-60MPH

1. Peterbilt 579 - 13.12sec
2. Kenworth W900 - 14.05sec

Then they combined the results from ATS and ETS2.  Clearly they need to update all the new trucks added.

And if you are curious as to how these trucks stack up against their Euro Truck counterparts, here are those results I also performed.

Well, I prefer to drive 75+ mph in American truck. European ones, especially with 4×2 chassis, are less stable.

The issue with the study they did above is they never states which size chassis they used... but I am going to assume they used the smallest chassis on each.

Still it is kind of neat to see some numbers to these trucks we drive every day.  I wonder how the in-game stats compare to the real life trucks?

Well, sometimes I hear some info from people who tried to test some trucks for acceleration, and 12-13 secs for 0-100 km/h is a true result for 700+ HP empty vehicle.

Those statistics seem quite accurate.  Consider the average car does 0-30mph in under 4 seconds and the average 0-60mph is under 7 seconds.

I have read some truck stats and it seems SCS has been quite accurate with their numbers here.  Cool study. Renault is pretty far back with the least amount of optional power.

Renault is pretty far back with the least amount of optional power.
First generation of Magnum had optional Mack V8 engines with up to 560 HP — not so much, but more than fourth generation, besides, normal Scanias and Volvos didn’t have 600-HP engines in 1990s — although there was a giant 18-liter V10 for MAN (600-640 HP).

If you look what engines are most popular, you will see that average Renault have almost the same power as average Scania ;D.

Uhhh... that performance test was done by me.  Lol.

I'm gonna do it again.  :)  Thanks for bringing it up.  What a small world and what are the chances, right? :D

Yesss, do it again.
There is a lot to compare in basic trucks — for example, 310-HP Iveco and 370-HP W900, or the same truck with normal 10+ speed gearbox and with 6-speed Allison.

The issue is I don't have the money to buy all that stuff.  I only have $3 million in ATS and ... well... $28 million in ETS2.  I guess I can afford that one.

That is you?  Wow!  How much stuff do you do man?  And honestly... what are the chances?

Edit: Oh my gosh!  That is you!  I just looked at your Steam profile to the one you have on Patreon! WOW.  That is insane!  That has to be like a 1 in a million chance!

I am impressed how you can hold such amount of money in cash ;D. In my case, they are converting to trucks, trailers and garages immediately after earning of them.
