I know where you at!!!!  ^

You are somewhere on the planet earth!!!

Also that MASS paragraph.  I agree with some of it, lol.

Anyways, I am off to test the new update now for myself.  I am really curious how it works.  I am going to flip a coin.  Heads I do ATS.  Tails I do ETS2.

And it looks like I got tails.  ETS2 it is.

There is quite a lovely comparison of the new lighting in 1.40.  Here it is showcased in ETS2.

Personally it will take getting used to the new lighting system in game.  Especially while in the cab at night, I wasn't fond of the new lighting colors.  But I know it will be better long term.  There is no denying the lighting is more realistic when compared side by side.

That makes it super clear how good the new lighting is.  I was going to come in and say I drove yesterday, I did two short runs at night and I was torn about the lighting at first but as I kept playing it, it was much more realistic.  I think it's good.  It doesn't have the same wide range of colors I noticed in the past though.

I LOVED the early morning fog.  I was lucky enough to have a cool morning while driving through the new reworked Germany areas.  That morning fog was awesome.  I hope it's not all the time, but it was very cool.

As for the upgrades to Germany (I drove in the southern half) it was noticeable.  VERY NOTICEABLE. The autobahns are great, but when you still drive into a city center, it is noticeable how outdated they are.  They need to replace buildings.  The cities still need work in my opinion.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts everyone.  I am going to what I've always always wanted.  I am going to test the new 1.40 update and drive the length of Highway 101 from Washington to California. :D  Should be a perfect route to see the sunsets with the new lighting as well as the new weather with rain along the coast.

Good idea, MasterX.

Thanks for sharing Rainy.  On my first drive I too decided drive through the new parts of Germany.  I drove from Bulgaria to get to Germany then drove from the south to the north.  I enjoyed the new updates and didn't have any complaints.  I'm not as picky as others.  I didn't play around with new axels for trucks, I just used my old truck.

Updated Renault Trucks To Be Revealed On ETS2, April 6th, 2021
SCS of course has not said anything about this, but Renault sure has.
And... I wonder, will something special be made to a Thursday (like that three-year old official mod)?

I really thought that "new" Renault T we got recently was already new.  Why is Renault already changing the design?

Or did the "new" Renault in ETS2 not really new but just new to the game?

It was introduced in 2013 ;D. Same with MAN TGX Euro 6.

I can say that 2009 Volvo looks good as well, the only thing is that newer trucks have obviously more detailed models ;D.

So what is the oldest truck in ETS2?  Is it the original Volvo FH16?

IVECO hasn't had a new truck in awhile.... DAF too... And Volvo.

The Volvo FH series trucks has a new updated look in real life.

All the DAF trucks look the same.

IVECO's S-Way is totally different looking... and maybe not for the better.

When we go to Russia... will the introduce some old Soviet branded trucks? Are Russian truck brands sold outside of former bloc countries? Like can a Frenchman buy one? I don't know much about Russian truck brands... I can think of KAMAZ off the top of my head... and thats about it.  GAZ?  Do they make hauling trucks? Ural?  ZIL?  I don't even know anymore.  I just think of their old stuff.

I also remember there was a truck brand called... heh... FAP.

Or what about a Japanese branded Hino 700 Series truck?

I remember Chinese FAW — First Auto Works ;D.
I can think of KAMAZ off the top of my head... and thats about it.
Their noteworthy (for 21th century) models are based on modern Mercedes trucks (today KamAZ group is partially controlled by Daimler Group — like Freightliner or WS), the other are either old junk, which is good only for local trucking, or military-specific products. So, the original Mercedes is much closer to the France ;D.
GAZ?
Small and the smallest trucks and buses, no big rigs. Not a big difference from top Chinese stuff, except a lower production rate ;D. Also, from all Russian vehicle names, the GAZ one is the easiest for converting into FAP.
Ural
Military-specific trucks for testosterone-poisoned men — you have seen Ural Next in the ETS.
ZIL
RIP. A very hmm... specific qualities of the latest products. Having its factory at the expensive land not far from Moscow’s center doesn’t help too — being located in the middle of nowhere, the factory could survive, selling non-commercial trucks (garbage, road maintenance etc.) to the small towns.
There is also a «TONAR» brand (yes, that’s a bear on its hood ;D), but they make only ultra heavy-duty vehicles.

Ukrainian KrAZ and Belorussian MAZ are in the same category as KamAZ, but without really up-to-date models. Today MAZ works in some collaboration with MAN, the product of alliance has double name MAZ-MAN. There is some cool stuff made by MAZ, but like Tonar, it suits more to Spintires/Mudrunner than ETS.

So it seems doubtful any new truck brands from these regions will make it in to ETS2.

They seem to want cutting edge, big brand name trucks.  :-\  Oh well. We have so much in this game, I can't complain.

I have a real question for everyone.

I am sure the creators with ETS2 was still just called ETS.  Because from here on out, ATS can always be ATS.

There is no need to make a NEW game if they continually improve the past game and make new DLC and updates.

But eventually... game engines get too old.

So will there ever be an ETS3 or an ATS2?  Surely they would use the old base maps and visually improve them.

Due to the lack of Google Streetview, will Asia Truck Sim or an Africa/South America Truck sim ever be possible?  Thoughts, speculation....
