I remember several mountain roads in Romania, where you can see speed limit signs of 90 km//h, but the road is so curvy so I would not drive more than 60... even the small car.

I took a few shorter jobs, and the road system is very very . . . interesting.  lol.  I went from nice motorway, to small tiny roads, through villages, over many railroad crossing, took a ferry boat, back onto a small village road, and reached my destination.

If compare with Spain, the average speed is more than two times lower.
Even Baltic roads are faster ;D.

I just searched 'Craiova, Romania' and these were the first three image results in order.  I am conflicted as to what this place might be like irl.  lol.

This is easy.  The first image is telling you to stop driving and take the train.

The second image is of the town.

The third image is of a guy trying to take the same turn as you and he also messed up.

The third image shows the consequences for those who don’t want to support the national railways [excited].

Lol!  I guess I better buy a train simulator then.  I can't mess up if I am on one line of track!

These small rural roads make me long for the motorways of Spain!  I'm sooo far away from it.

As I have mentioned earlier, France is the most balanced part of the map. 2018 and 2019 expansions contained too much rural roads, and for the next DLC the developers did otherwise ;D.

I am slowly making my way west.  I was as far east as Burgas.  It will be nice when the WB is released so you have more options other then being forced to go through Hungary.  I don't have a problem with Hungary of course, but it will just be nice to have more roads. ;D  I doubt it will be quicker going through Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia - Herzegovina.  Oh, and Slovenia too!

Right now there are only two routes connecting Romania and Hungary in the game.

BTW, when I start the profile, I usually try to earn as more experience points as possible to quickly reach the level needed for buying a truck I like.
Plus, I try to open the rural roads first, so sometimes the ride can be longer than it was planned. So, recently I had the longest ride ever, and it has lifted me from Level 7 to Level 11 at once!

In our school math books, 7/11 was a classic example of a repeating decimal — 0.6363636363... ;D

It will in most cases still be the fastest route as it should have the most uniform motorways to zoom around.  Border stuff in the other countries and possibly lesser roads more similar to Romania's will be what slows that down.

So to those who live in Europe or have been to some of the countries in this game, how accurate is the game at depicting European countries?  Is it accurate and believable?  Does it provide a slice of life?  You can ignore the old parts of the game, but what about more current parts?  Would love to know.

Hopefully our friends across the pond can answer for you.  The places I have been in Europe are not well represented because they are in very old parts of the game.  So I cannot answer this.  For example, London in the game doesn't look like London at all.  But this is part of the oldest part of the game before they started aiming for realism.  Sure they have some landmarks, but nothing is in accurate locations.  They are sort of placed in an area you can't reach.  Like a "best of" skyline.

I haven't been to Madrid yet in the game, so I can't answer that.  The Italy sections I have been to are much better then older parts of the map.  You certainly get the feel and vibe of the cities, and certain areas are accurate.  But very few places are of the tourist areas one would go.  It's more likely you will be driving a truck in an industrial area, so you don't always see much.  But the residential streets you do drive by, you definitely get the vibes.

I can answer for ATS if you want an answer on that.
