If their growth will be productive enough, I hope to see the increasing number of DLCs for next years ;D.
There still is a lot of work with older trucks and older map parts.

There is a ton of work.  I don't think most really just how much they've said they want to do.  It's when you finally see it in a big list you realize how much they want to do.

We also got some more truck discussion which led to a video by AP101.  Some actual new info here too.  SCS has/had a crew visit Western Star in Portland, Oregon and Volvo Truck headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina.  There is also continued speculation, but no new concrete evident of the MAN TGX and other trucks.

Hmmm, I didn't expect them to do more with Western Star already or International.  Seems like Daimler North America is REALLY wanting their trucks to be in the game.  PACCAR needs updates badly with Kenworth and Peterbilt, but we were also teased those are in the works.

Meanwhile ETS2 has the MAN TGX and remodeling old trucks.  That's it.    It's the wild west in ATS right now for trucks, but pretty tame over in ETS2 land.

Thanks for the vid.  I love being spoon-fed some little teasers and tidbits of truck info.  I really wanna drive that new VNL.  I think it's kind of the last main holdout for American trucks, besides getting new Kenworth's and Peterbilt's.

I can live without the MAN since not much has changed on it comparatively.  Roughly the same engines/tranny too.  But I do want me some WB content and HoR.

I think it is very unlikely, but I wish we had the Ford semi truck in ETS2.  Are those common in Europe?  Any European's here have some insight?

For whomever it concerns, this is data for "all of Europe" and whatever that entails.... So of course it varies by country, but as a continent, this is the market share.  Ford would fall in the 3% as "other."

It doesn't stop F-Max from being mentioned a lot in various media. ;D The Eastern European countries have a lot of Turkish Ford Cargoes.
Also, I am impressed how small is difference in market share between the brands. Mercedes is on the first place, but it doesn't dominate.
And, I agree that MAN TGX is too conservative. Current models of most of European trucks look very different from their predecessors from 2009, but MAN looks as a facelifted model instead as new one. ;D

I'm surprised by the market share in Europe.  I didn't think Mercedes would be first and I didn't think MAN would be second.  I guess it really depends on which country you live in for example.  I am sure DAF dominates in The Netherlands and Scania/Volvo do well in the Scandinavian countries, IVECO in Italy, etc.

Being an ocean away, I thought the Volvo's would have had more market share though and I expected Renault to be less.  But really, they are all fairly close.

I wonder what the American market looks like?

I wonder what the American market looks like?

Before I give you the direct answer, let's look at some other stuff first.  First the global truck market broken up by the biggest companies in the world by truck sales.  Stats are from 2022 in this graph below and sadly they don't give numbers.  PACCAR leads followed by Daimler then Volvo Group.

This next graph shows the predicted growth of medium and heavy duty commercial vehicles by growth rate.  Overall, these companies seem to predict good growth for much of the world.  Greenland of course is always no data or unknown.

Not to get into the truck sales for the USA.  In the USA, as with Europe, there are class trucks.  The trucks we drive in ATS are mostly all Class 8 trucks which appear on this graph as yellow.

Next we have a pie graph showing us data from 2014. Back in 2014, Daimler NA  lead in sales (being lead by their Freightliner brand) followed by PACCAR, Volvo, then Navistar (International).

But the latest 2022 data shows a new story... kind of.  The companies are shown in a different way ny separating them by brand.  We see Freightliner dominates with 37.9% of the sales.  This mostly comes from fleet sales.  This graph splits PACCAR between Kenworth and Peterbilt.  The less expensive Peterbilt's sell slightly more than Kenworth.  If the two brands are combined, they make up 29.7% of the market.  International is the next followed by the two Volvo brands of Volvo Trucks and Mack.  Western Star makes a distant last place.

The US truck sales have one dominate player, somewhat skewed by all their sales to fleets.  Second place is a battle among roughly four different companies, though realistically more like three.  This setup has not really changed with Kenworth and Peterbilt always in second or third for the past twenty years.  International has gained market share, but not enough to take third.  Volvo Trucks has lost some market share to International.

^ Yeah, most of the trucks we have are Freightliners though a lot of independents love their Kenworth's.  There are some Pete guys too.  Don't think I've ever seen a Mack or Western Star in the yard here personally.

I have to agree.  I never knew the details about truck sales.  So I am pretty impressed to see it.
