Like, the exhibit had some crazy pottery. They had a great sense of humor too, the ancient natives. They made drinking flask, but the only way to drink out of it was through the penis shaped spout! And then there were mini sculptures of men with HUGE penis', and ladies with HUGE vaginas.

They also made sculptures of animals fornicating...

Sounds like they were a very . . . open society.

In ancient Pompeii, most of the citizens were illiterate... so the signs to the popular red-light district were clearly marked with large penises carved on the city walls, pointing like arrows... the city fathers didn't want you getting lost on the way to the brothel, there....

I think it was awesome. Kind of a shame Spanish conquistadors ruined their society. Made them all freaking prudes with their religion and Christianity. And I'll tell you, the South Americans still hate Spain to this day. Hate them for stealing what was the natives, and leaving the worst of their people there.

They were also a very open and accepting society. They had "guacas" of people with features seen in people with down syndromes, people with blindness, cripples, and Siamese twins. All of them depicted as old. Which means they didn't kill the "weak". They found a place for them in their society. In their Erotic Exhibit there was also "guacas" showing gay and lesbian sex. The reason this exhibit wasn't open to the public was because of religious government and stuff. Saying stuff like that was "disgusting". And in fact many ancient pottery pieces were destoryed by the church.

How very thoughtful of them.

I hear in Chicago, signs are pointing using pistols and guns on where to avoid getting shot...

It would be so cool if the Aztecs and other ancients throughout South/Central America were still around today.  So many disappeared due to killing, disease, etc.  Would love to see how they could have modernized themselves.

They probably wouldn't have, let's be fair. But they were excellent scholars, amazing really. Geniuses.
In Equador, you know the equater line right? Scientist from Europe years ago set up a little monument thing or something where they calculated the equator was. Years and years later it was discovered they were off. So the government tried to discreetly move it so it would be right. When digging to place the moment in its new spot they found an ancient line built by the ancient natives. Right on the equatorial line. They knew. And they got it right. Using what limited sources they had. Fascinating really.

I know, those people were fascinating!  No idea how they figured all that stuff out back then.  They had to have been very smart in certain regards for sure.  Shame they all disappeared for the most part.

They were geniuses. Quick as a whip. They used the stars to map things. Discovered things way before the Europeans did. It's a shame they saw them as "uneducated savages". Who knows what intellect they could have shared with us if the Spaniards hadnt destoryed nearly all their documents.

I wish the Inca's and Aztec's were still around.  In history I always did "what ifs" in my head.  Like what if the Native American bands in the US actually formed their own sovereign countries early on and developed?  How cool, right?  Like what could they have given to this world?  I thought the same thing about many cultures, even if history wasn't my fav thing.  My fav was recess.

Blasted Spanish destroyed so much stuff in the name of the Church...

I can understand why they called them savages though... I mean, they sacrificed and in some cases ate their own people... Coming from "civilized" Europe at the time, that kind of custom would make no sense.  Europe were more powerful at the time, and survival of the fittest.
