To them it was to ensure the sun rose again. But the people who were sacrificed were honored to be killed in such a way. It is barbaric yes, but still, they had a lot to contribute to science and math. The Europeans were close minded honestly, and found whatever didn't align with their norm to be evil and the work of Satan.

Oh yeah, Euro's were totally different.  Every culture is.  What is considered barbaric to one is totally fine to another.  Such a fascinating world we live in. 

Some of the early Inca's had plumbing and running water in their mountain top homes.  It was pretty legit stuff.

It was cool. But we mustn't forget the Incas were only around for a small amount of time compared to the people before them. They were but a small moment in the history of South America.

I'm not a huge history buff, you would know more then me.  I don't know all the varying cultures and tribes down there. But it is so cool what those groups achieved.

It really is. I admire what they did with what they had.

I would love to be able to go back and time and witness stuff.  Not alter it, just witness it.  Kind of fly around like a ghost no one can see.

Ironically, they are the ones now hailed as the most open-minded and forward-thinking in the world.  While articles have been published praising Europe's positive treatment of the mentally ill, making them fell like valuable workers rather than outcasts and drains on society , their human rights record remains spotty, and their current welfare state is overburdened and unsupportable at best.

I disagree that Europeans are open minded today.  They aren't.

No culture is, but Europe definitely isn't, despite what the media tells us.  Their leaders may be, but their people certainly aren't.

A tad yes. I like talking. Especially about South America. I may be bias though :p

South America... PPPBBFFFT.  Where it's at is in . . . the little known South West American continent.  That's where it is at yo.

The Ancients in South America were impressive, but there were many impressive civilizations in North and Central America.  Some are the Aztec's of course who had their massive cities, one even being located on an island with causeways that could be removed if invaders came.  They had cities with over 100,000 people in a time when that was unheard of.

You also had the Confederated Tribes up on the east coast that had made a pact with many tribes to form an early "country" of sorts.
