The biggest cities from tribes was in South and Central America.  But there were large cities and bands in the North too.  The Pacific Northwest had tribes that lived the most luxurious of lives because of the abundance of food and water, and a mild climate.  They didn't have large cities, but they had several smaller cities and a thriving trade and economy.  It is impressive what all the different groups did.

It is fascinating what the older ancients did being cut off from the "civilized" world.  I can only imagine what kind of empire and world the America's might have been if the Europeans never came.  It would be interesting.

I would hypothesis that the Central and Southern America's would be more developed then North America.  But in the long run, North America has more good ands natural resources to take hold of.

Yeah, the Mexican empires would slowly fade away nonetheless.  It wasn't sustainable in the Mexico City Valley of today.  It isn't even sustainable today, and yet it is the biggest city in our hemisphere...

Mexico City has the worst pollution in our hemisphere. Being located at such a high elevation and surrounded by mountains (a common problem in human development throughout the Central and South America's), it traps all the pollution in their valley.

 There is no water, but thanks to modernity they can pump water to them, at the expense of other valleys around them no longer having water and turning farmland into dry wastelands. 

Transport is abysmal to get to their high elevation, and routes in and out are very limited. 

Modernity has given the city time... but at what cost?

Exactly what I mean. If it were just how they lived back them and shit, it wouldn't be as bad. Of course they would still modernize, but who knows, maybe better?

Mexico City is very gross. Just bleh.

I'm sure they could have lived a lot longer if they stayed put in their old ways and survived as was.  (Just pretending the whole world didn't find them and stayed in that time period)

Yeah, I don't know.  There were many Aztec factions that all competed with cities within the Mexico City Valley (sorry I forgot the valley's actual name).  There were several riots and uprising among the citizenry, especially the lower classes.  So if they didn't destroy themselves from the inside out, it is only a mystery how they would have survived, or if they could have grown more.

Even then, they had famine and drought and saw population declines before Cortez and the Spaniards came.

Well the reason they died was because of people finding them and killing them. They had a pretty chill thing going on. Besides the sacrifices and stuff.

There is that island off of India where people still live their native ways. Not even planes can fly over the island without the residents trying to shoot it down with arrows.

Yes and no.  Read above.  They were still struggling with drought. 

Cortez when he first met Montezuma had good relations.  They hadn't planned (initially) to harm the Aztec's, though they wanted gold.  Montezuma said Cortez could have all the gold they want. 

But the misunderstanding comes when supposedly Montezuma had two Spaniards killed in a possibly false meeting for a city to become part of the Spanish protectorate.  This made Cortez mad and he rallied up neighboring opponent tribes to Monetzuma, stormed their capital city, and razed the central portion it to the ground, where they then built a center modeled off Spanish buildings and successfully lived there among the remaining tribes and Aztecs for awhile before leaving.  Cortez/Spain actually had  good relations with many Central American tribes, despite what the popular train of thought is now.  It isn't true he just went around killing everyone.

I do know the Incas were completely screwed over though. Lied to and tricked. A shame really.
