I am willing to bet he will support the independence of Quebec or a French satrapy type thing.

Doesn't matter a whole lot.  Even if Quebec was to be independent, it wouldn't change the geopolitics of North America.  The US is the lead, and it would just actually make Canada weaker and Mexico would overtake it possibly.

Quebec on it's own can do it's own socialist stuff and then go bankrupt as it is now.  It is unsustainable, even with it's power sources.  Canada will lose a chunk of their economy, but it won't be a death blow.  You also got Canada's territories that could in theory become provinces or their own countries one day.... probably autonomous regions, for the first nations.

I could see Mexico splitting too.  North Mexico and South.  The north is richer, being next to the US border and all the manufacturing jobs by US companies that build plants right on the Mexico side of the border.  They are starting to be more American then Mexican.  Mexico City could still control itself and the poorer south.

Mexico City can barely control itself within the city limits.  But there will certainly be a growing divide in Mexico between north and south.  Mexico invests more in the north, because that is where the money is.  When your neighbor is the biggest economic force in the world, you cozy up.

I like playing what if scenarios.  Imagine if there was a north/south Mexico.  A Canada broken up so Quebec was a country, the Maritimes were REAL Canada, the territories were countries, and western Canada became something else.

It is fun to imagine.  Some of those things are very possible, but for the most part, our three countries here are lucky to dominate two coastlines and have relatively stable governments.

Yes we are.  I also like to break up the US, at least in theory.

You could break up so much... like cut New Jersey off and push it off to see and watch it sink, then do the same with Los Angeles.
