They live on a hill with some other homes over the town! :) At least based on what we've been shown.

Ponyville as a whole is represented as a nice town.  Middle class for the most part. It seems like Trixie is the poorest pony we've seen living in a trailer illegally parked alongside some road.

Can AT&F Spike even blow fire? Because if we go down that route, Twi could teleport, but she doesn't do that in AT&F. ;D
