this California rework had me as excited as a full DLC for some reason.
I can surely say that last year rework of Austria had me excited more than a full Going East! DLC (which was only an expansion with very little of new stuff ;D). As we could see from the screenshots, the Switzerland rework also promises to be awesome.

Also, we may get a new truck soon ;D.
So, instead of adding the updated FH or Actros, the developers are teasing us by DAF XF’s smaller brother ;D, which is in the same class with Volvo FM, MAN TGS, Mercedes Arox etc. — the same carrying capacity, but the smaller cab and lower price.

Where?  I don't see it. (I actually do not see it in the photo)  :-]

Doesn't it look the same as the current DAF truck in-game?

Behind the bus. There are more photos like that in the post.

Exactly the same, just smaller ;D.

Smaller?  A less capable truck then?  Is it like a daily truck or something? Will we get cab-trailer trucks that are almost connected? :D  [excited]

WB has been a lot of fun and I love how unpredictable road and highway infrastructure is in these European countries.  in the US, there is a US Standard that they all must meet, so we see a lot of similar roads, no real surprises.  But in Europe we have tons of countries of varying degrees of wealth, standards, etc.  It keeps things interesting and unpredictable.  Much like this journey, I found it unpredictable.  I've stayed mostly in the north so far, exploring the countries as deeply as I could.  I haven't had much great weather unfortunately, but I think you will still enjoy what I show.

Leaving Italy and really enjoying the new work by the dev studio.

I also saw this marvel in Italian waste water removal, lol.

Slovenia is our first stop and things are kind of bleak in the first big city I go too.

My next trip has me drive out to Romania. Timisoara here we come!

I love the multiple border stops!  I even had to do an X-ray.  A garage opened and I drove in.  Is this new? (Unfortunately it didn't work and I had to back out)  Glitched or a didn't do it right.

Soviet tram!

I think this is somewhere in Serbia.  I am not sure.

This town entry made me think of Russia.

Lots of large manufacturing companies in Slovenia, Croatia, and Serbia from my driving around.  Some make up entire city skylines.

Other cities are much more scenic.

And still others show signs of decay.

I was surprised by the amount of toll roads.  I didn't know that was common in this part of the world.

My biggest stop was the city of Belgrade.  It was very interesting driving a mix of modern streets and tight city streets not planned for big trucks.  The city had it's nice areas, but also some really depressed areas.  I love that about ETS because we can see it all.  Not every place is pristine.

The Port and Belgrade was neat.  Very old fashioned, but very cool!

I drove through a part of Belgrade that looked as if it went through a war... well... maybe it did.

After all this driving, I had to stop and get my truck a tune up.  I found some batered old shop alongside the road.  Way different from the clinically clean shops in Western Europe.  The charm was there though.  Very neat!

My favorite parts have been all the winding roads.  A short distance in this part of the world takes WAY longer than it should, which I am sure is accurate, lol.  The roads vary from good to bad in quality, but I love it!  I absolutely love this DLC.

Oooohh! I love the journey-styled posts!  I am having way too much fun with WB.  The most I've played ETS2 in years in one sitting.  I love it's variation and your photos show that FlemishCap!  Your truck is sporting flames! ;D

It was introduced in Road To Black Sea DLC, and later added into one of Russian border point as well. That X-ray machine requires you to stop at very specific point (and the line is not always drawn on the floor ;D), and then you have a short cutscene with that thing sliding back and forth.

The good highway can be too expensive for not-so-wealthy regions, so, the toll roads are one of the acceptable ways to earn money for its maintenance.

So, we have already see photos from Hutchinson with those huge grain elevators, and today there are more photos. With smaller elevators ;D. For entry-level farms.

I wonder if I can combine them by doing halloween hauls within the Balkans?

You can combine them.  Just make sure you haul a Treats trailer the recommended distance and somewhere within the WB DLC and it will count for both Halloween Haul and the WB event. :D  [excited]

BTW, since ATS 1.48.5 didn’t contain the new map locations, its release was made without any noticing, just like a small fix.

Well we did just get a new state not long ago. ;D
Also, we will get one more less in two months. ;D.

So, after four days without trucking, I took the pumpkin-colored Scania for the next stage of exploring the new DLC.
While driving at daytime, I often put attention to a big number of filling stations, parkings etc. in locations where you expect to see some recreational centre ;D. One of photo trophies is a quarry with the «Boxing Academy» ad ;D.

The border between Austria and Slovenia has a fresh tunnel (the second part of it is going to be opened in 2-3 years), and from Slovenian side the nature is the greenest, even the rivers look greenish. It’s not Slovenian specific — B&H also have the rivers like this, but with more rocky surroundings.

The wild-looking forests may look really wild or be made in the stripes, also, one of the border points has a copy-pasted high tree among the lower ones. The copy-pasting of houses in some mountain places can look crazy ;D. Is it convenient to have a house on such steep mountain side?

One of popular mean to end the user-available highway — just put the construction site there and continue with the secondary road. In this location, you can see where the new bridge starts and ends. Also, the mountains are not so green here ;D.

On the way to port of Durres, I have found a small town, probably a personal mansion of a certain magical school girl [tonguewink].

The forest base of Bijelo Polje is really far from the city itself, but, unlike the famous Bellingham base, all the road is paved ;D. No wonder these rocky mountains have the tourist traps including a zipline near the concrete bridge, and the girls who ride on it are voiced! Just stop for a half of a minute and listen ;D.

This unusual-looking building is... a library! I think these domes provide enough light to the reading rooms. The primary road from Prishtina to Albanian border is relatively straight before the border (they needed to make cuts in big mountains for achieve this) and starts to be more curvy right after it.

Mostar has another bridge available only for making a photo, and the river here has a little weird texture, but how cool these rooks look! The connection with Albania has more usual color of nearby river, also, the bridge from one of the loading screens has the Albanian flag only on one side. But, there are no chances to see it while driving ;D.
