Well, here is some update for you ;D. And I love these screenshots and hope we will see all locations from them this summer.

(I wonder, will there be bases with scenic looks from unloading areas like in Colorado and Iberia?)

I'm not gonna lie, but this revamp of California looks better than what was done for the redo of Germany.  The Germany redo improved the highway scenery, but the cities are still too disconnected and seem tiny, no real transition when coming into them and so many old assets still.

Those new California tree's look spectacular.   The ATS team really is running on all cylinders and seems to know how to create the most realistic worlds.

Take my money... oh wait... this is just given to us for being us.  That is so awesome of them.

SCS, a company that supports their community and older content. I mean... seriously, how cool is that? :D  California looks top notch, and it really deserves that vibrant update.

I still enjoy driving California, but truth be told, the highways we see in new updates are so much better now too.  More freeway lanes, better signage, better layout.  Driving in California is nowhere near as apparent as driving in old parts of ETS2.  But you can even see the assets and textures are of much lower grade in the early ATS map.

That was fast... :o
An Experimental Beta for 1.41 has been launched!

So, this time I decided to make a backup and see this beta at first day ;D. As you can see, most of the roads above Sacramento are new, and Hornbrook is no longer present on the map — they added Hilt instead. Also, in 1.41 we have an ability to teleport to any city we had discovered earlier — it don’t cost any minute of time, but you must pay some money — up to about 3000 dollars for the longest route.

And... Meet the multiplayer! Use the radio (with static sound effects ;D) and call your own convoy!

(even unicorn is present)

Wow.  That was sudden.

They did the teleport fix because I guess they recently found out there was a exploit by a popular Youtube named the Spiffing Brit who made that very public to millions of players.  So it looks like SCS wanted to fit that fast.

Multiplayer?  So there was no blog post for all of this?  Where was this info shared?  Where was the map posted?  It looks great!

Where did SCS share all this?
This beta is so experimental, so even the blog post has not been made ;D.
Here is the thread on their forum. As for the map comparison — it’s just my screenshot. I’m not going to play beta a lot of time, I just installed it to take a peek ;D.

This is exactly what I've wanted from a multiplayer version of these games. I get to play online without dealing with griefers and the terrible mods on truckersmp.

So, when you travel to Redding, you are teleported to a new giant truckstop (I love that photo mode update ;D):

The weigh station right after the rest area is much bigger too:

That new section of I-5 above the Redding has a lot of screenshot-worthy scenery (it was less than a minute between the first and the third places):

Also, all entrances to California have been equipped with new control stations (as stated in the previous blog post). And they are more difficult to bypass than weight ones:

But... I think I need to be a good boy and wait for the final release :D. I have already heard that if SCS made the radio chatter, there is a small possibility that these devices can be added to the cab in future patches.

Oh wow.  I might have to check out this BETA. :D  I love that internet feature thy haven't even announced, that way no bad drivers.

Photo mode is going to be downright awesome now,  I will spend even more time there!!!

Finally, this stretch pf I-5 is looking more accurate.  They left out completely the Shasta Lakes you drive by and over in ATS, and by far it's a major landmark area they left out.

With the new curved roads, it will take longer to get to-from places.

For some reason the stretch of I-5 between Sacramento and Redding always seemed SUPER LONG. Lol.  it just dragged on and on.  Also nice to see 101 get some more curves, possibly more beautiful scenery.

It seems like the Redding area has gotten more changes over the years than any area in ATS.  They redid the whole city before (and it still doesn't look like the real city, lol).

It never made sense that Hornbrook was a marked town.  I guess it will be missed for being such a tiny random spot with nearly no jobs, lol.  I don't know anything about Hilt, California so I guess we will see it what it provides.  I know it is equally tiny. They should just stick the town Yreka there instead.  It's a decent sized town (but they probably don't want to detail that much, lol).

Nice comparison shots with the weather, Tim!  Thanks for gathering all this info.

I guess it won't be as easy to race from Bellingham to Los Angeles when they update I-5 with more curves in NorCal.  Lol!  Awesome info, @timmelon!  Thanks for that and the photos. Any more info you got, please share!

Well, Hilt looks to be closer to the state border and smaller than Hornbrook on the real map, but 1.41 ATS map shows it has two bases — in addition to Bitumen, there is a Voltison.
The «quit» and «change profile» buttons in the main menu were merged into one, also we have new buttons for quick travel and convoys, the map icons were slightly redesigned as well. Since I am not interested in beta multiplayer for now (although the ability to share one job looks very promising ;D), and I have no doubt that all new parts of the map look great (I think you need to see all of them by yourself, same with photo mode), I’m back to 1.40, and when the experimental beta will come as normal beta, they will definitely made a blog post ;D.
As you can see from the screenshots, they even warn you about the experimental nature of this beta by this text in the top of the screen.

Thank you for all that info!  I'm going to hold out and wait till 1.41 ATS comes out in the real game!

Too bad I don't have friends to drive with in ATS, LOL.  But it sounds promising!

I think it will be no earlier than a in month. The convoy seems to look pretty difficult do debug, especially about avoiding collisions in spawn areas ;D.
