That is a pretty red.  Is that metallic?  It looks so shiny.

I have a dumb question that I think I know the answer of.

When I go to buy a truck, I have to go to the dealer and buy it.  But... what if I haven't found all the truck manufacturer dealers?  Does that just mean I have to go still find them?  Or do they eventually unlock for me to buy them?  It's kind of annoying because if I am at my base in some far away place and I want to buy this certain truck, I have to drive a long ways to go get it! (I haven't bought a truck yet, don't worry)

Since it appears we are showing off trucks, let me show you the best in German engineering. A real truck that puts your silly American trucks to shame.  Clean, well engineered, efficient.

It is shocking how different the color looks in different lighting.  It is a metallic silver.

Looks great! Especially the photo from the front ;D.
There were a lot of trucks added to ETS after 2015, but Actros still is my primary eye candy.
American ones have their pros and cons, they just are more fitting to that country’s trucking style. Higher speeds, lower importance of ecological requirements (but there are really clean states like California, where is no place for old engines), much less over-engineered parts ;D (sadly, new trucks have them a lot), BIG SLEEPERS!!!, no need to turn over your cab, etc., etc...
As for photos, I just don’t very like different wheels on trucks and trailers in Europe , this gives them a bit less stylishness.
That is a pretty red.  Is that metallic?  It looks so shiny.
Yes. Since the new lighting engine was made, the solid non-metallic colors can look a bit pale under the sun, so now most of my vehicles are metallic.
But... what if I haven't found all the truck manufacturer dealers?  Does that just mean I have to go still find them?  Or do they eventually unlock for me to buy them?
The only self-unlocking dealer is the closest to your starting city dealer of the manufacturer you have chosen while creating a profile :'). But it’s not so big problem — try to find dealers in every city you visit (this makes you explore the map ;D) and you will have several of them unlocked at the moment of buying. You don’t need to drive to already discovered dealer, you will be automatically transfered there if you decide to visit it for getting a truck, and later, with at least three trucks in property, you will be allowed to buy them online anytime you want (same with garages) from any dealer you have discovered. Also, the fast travel system introduced in the current version makes everything easier — buy a truck, teleport to the city when you take a high-profitable order (from the city where currently you can take only cardboard boxes or wood chip ;D), and get to driving! For example, that my red LT* was captured in the Port Angeles, where it has been fasttraveled for taking the profitable order with 150 USD per mile.

*(those people in the bottom-left corner are probably discussing how to fit it into the ferry ;D. Also, my truck has met its non-metallic-painted brother during the delivery)

UPD:
Pretty impressive how quickly that number can be reached, so, there are tons of people who likes to participate in such events.

Besides the continued unnecessary jabs for no real reason, you have a very nice, clean looking truck.

Timmelon already explained it all way better then I would.  You should try to explore all the '?' symbols on your map when visiting new cities.  This unlocks new truck dealers to buy trucks from as well as places to hire employees.

As you buy your first few trucks and rank up, you will eventually be able to purchase trucks online.  The same can be said with employees when building your truck empire.

Whats with you and making this a competition or something?  We all here love trucks and we all love these SCS games.  There is no need for this Europe vs. America thing you have going on.  Just stop.  It doesn't make you look good.

Now I know how Eastern Europe feels about Western Europe...

I wonder why Japan don’t compete with European and American highway truck manufacturers in their field, selling there only small trucks?
As we see, Japanese cars have beaten European ones on the US market (in the terms of market share), so how the trucking industry would look with Japanese presence ;D?

The Japanese have not had much luck in the full-size truck market in the United States.... no luck actually.  But they do well in the light-duty delivery market.  Isuzu does really well with their NPR line of trucks and Mitsubishi used to do well with their Fuso/Canter, but recently announced they will be leaving the commercial truck market.

Nissan tried with a truck brand called UD, but they seem to have failed and given up... there is no press release of them leaving and they still have a website, but it hasn't been updated in a decade and no one sells their vehicles anymore.

Lastly is Hino, who is owned by Toyota.  They've been gaining a lot of ground lately and have moved up with some medium duty trucks and recently announced they are going to try and market a full-size  heavy duty semi truck in the United States.  The first Japanese brand to do so. The full size trucks are called the XL7 and XL8, which do 33,0000 and 62,000 GVW respectfully.  They don't offer sleeping cabs yet and seem more primed still for daily use or utility companies.  Hino is definitely the fastest growing Japanese truck brand in the US.

But the US truck brands still dominate by a huge margin.

I will share some photos of the trucks for your enjoyment.

Wow.  Thanks for the detailed info.  I had no idea about the Japanese market of trucks.  I mean I knew they existed in the US, but I never really thought about them.  Interesting if Hino keeps expanding and growing their truck lineup.  I could see a lot of regional, day operations using them.

Looks like it’s because they look more American ;D.

Sorry.  I frustrated the lack of attention SCS puts in ETS2.  I also apologize as English is not my first language, so I may say things wrongs.  I shouldn't compare as we all have common interests.  I should be happy all can enjoy.

Yeah, the American styled trucks Hino sells are manufactured in the USA.  But I couldn't find a whole lot of info on where they are designed.  I assume they were designed in the Japan with the help of people who understand the US truck market.  I know they've been investing a lot to grow their American market.  They consider it the biggest potential market for growth and also recently came out with a concept electric XL7.  They are in a joint venture with Isuzu to make more electric and zero emission vehicles.

These of course are hoping to draw in market share of the larger trucks sold in the US that are also electric including the new eCascadia from Freightliner, the electric VNL from Volvo, and future products coming from Kenworth and eventually Peterbilt.

We are good my friend.  Cheers!  I love both American and European trucks and I love both games. :)  We're good allies politically too.  No reason for us to be cross with one another. Cheers!  ^b- ^b-
